The Trojan Horse Proxy AHIY virus alert that is currently being reported by users of AVG is a viable threat. It has been confirmed to appear in infected and compromised versions of the following applications.
Google Toolbar (Files: \Google Toolbar\ToolbarUser.exe)
It will register under the process C:\Windows\system32\MRT.exe
The Trojan Horse Proxy AHIY virus will compromise systems and there are reports of internet connection loss being reported and the general slowing down of one's computer. Our analysts have found that sensitive data is being leaked to identity thieves by the Trojan Horse Proxy.AHIY virus.
AVG is able to detect the virus but is not able to remove it at this time. They are aware of it, but there are no signs of an update to the virus removal database in the near future.
